Meditation: A key to weight loss

Meditation means to relax one’s body and mind. There are various benefits of doing meditation. It also helps you in controlling your weight which is the biggest problem of today’s world. Basically meditation helps you in being careful to your actions and their reactions. This includes the process of eating also. When you meditate, it makes your mind alert to what you are eating and what will be its consequences. For instance if you feel an urge to eat a burger, suddenly your mind will remind you about the after effects of eating this burger. As a result of this you will feel sluggish and your mind will divert your thinking to some other better choices.

During meditation a person tries to concentrate on his breathing in order to avoid any other distracting thoughts. This process takes a lot of practice to make you perfect. Apart from this it has been noted that most of the people eat mindlessly whenever they are in stressful situations. This ultimately results in overweight and obesity. If you will practice the meditation regularly for about ten minutes in a day then it will make you able to control your mind while eating in stressful conditions.

The whole process of meditation involves four basic steps. The first step is to search for a lonely place where you can visit daily without any problem. This place could be a corner of your room where nobody will disturb you. After that you are supposed to sit on that place. You can sit on the floor or on a chair. You can also lean against the wall of your room using a cushion for your back in order to provide support. Moreover you can look for other special positions that are more comfortable for meditation. For instance there is lotus position that helps a lot in regulating your body and mind.

After this, first you are supposed to concentrate on your breathing. Later on you can change your normal breathing pattern. For instance you can recite any type of mantra during your meditation process. The last step is to control your mind from diverting into other distracting thoughts. If this is happening then try to avoid it. This will make you able to have a strict control over your emotions and desires. Ultimately it will help you in limiting your eating habits and through this you will have a natural weight loss.
